BCSARA is very pleased to announce that approval has been received for funding under the Search and Rescue New Initiatives Fund (SAR-NIF) for implementing new standards for Swiftwater rescue in the province. This 2 year $722,000 project starts April 1st and includes; developing on-line training for the awareness level, a provincial meeting of Swiftwater teams to discuss the standards, refresher training at the Operations and Technicians levels, and replacement of equipment that may not conform with standards.
The BCSARA Board would like to thank everyone that participated in the drafting of the proposal including EMBC staff, training providers, and SAR volunteers on the Swiftwater Task Force.
