April 6-12 is recognized nationally as “Volunteer Week” in Canada and the BCSARA wants to extend our deepest appreciation to the roughly 2500 SAR Volunteers on the 80+ SAR Groups in British Columbia. Each of our members provide a significant part towards the safety of each other, our citizens and visitors from around the world who come to enjoy the beautiful recreational opportunities provided in our Province.
Today we received statistics from Emergency Management BC that show member groups of the BCSARA responded to 1370 callouts (tasks) in the 2013-2014 fiscal year broken down as follows:
2013/2014 | VIR | SWE | CTL | SEA | NEA | NWE | TOTAL |
GROUND SEARCH AND RESCUE INCIDENTS | |||||||
SAR LAND | 153 | 406 | 149 | 197 | 107 | 48 | 1060 |
SAR INLAND WATER | 17 | 56 | 113 | 35 | 24 | 13 | 258 |

Without your skills, dedication and determination we would not be able to provide the incredible SAR program that we have here in BC. In addition we know that you could not do this without a supportive family and to many employers that make your life as a SAR Volunteer work.
Thank you for everything that you do for your SAR Groups and your communities.
