Wildfires do not wait until communities are ready.
When an evacuation order is issued, BC’s volunteer search and rescue groups are there, ready to support community evacuations, assist vulnerable residents, and work alongside local authorities and other emergency responders.
This readiness does not begin when the wildfire starts. Year round, these volunteer groups are training, planning, maintaining equipment and collaborating with emergency partners so they are ready to respond.
Every call. Every Community. Every Time.
Search and Rescue Is Always Growing. Always Improving. Always Ready.
BC’s 78 volunteer search and rescue groups support a growing range of civil emergencies. In addition to backcountry search and rescue incidents, groups may be requested to assist during wildfires, floods, severe weather events, vulnerable person searches and other community emergencies.
Neighbours Supporting Neighbours
Your gift to the BC Search and Rescue Association helps strengthen the systems, resources and local capacity that keep volunteer search and rescue groups ready for wildfire activity and whatever comes next. This includes training and preparedness, maintenance of equipment and operational resources, communications and coordination, operational task costs, and supporting nearby search and rescue groups when requested.
Why It Matters Now
Communities across British Columbia continue to face complex wildfire seasons activity and other civil emergencies.
When help is requested, search and rescue volunteers step up to make sure their neighbours get the help they need. Whether that’s a safe evacuation, searching for a vulnerable person, providing logistical support or a rescue in the backcountry, their ability to respond depends on work completed long before the emergency begins.
Training must be maintained. Equipment must be ready. Communications must work. Volunteers must be prepared to respond safely alongside partner agencies.
Your support helps make that readiness possible.
Every call. Every community. Every time.
When the next wildfire threatens a BC community, Search and Rescue volunteers will be ready thanks to people like you. Give today and support the volunteers who are always ready to answer the call.
